NAIL ART IDEAS

you thought you have heard everything about nail art then you need to read this article. Nail art is going all the more trendy. You can glue dried flowers, beads or a piece of your favorite fabric on to your nails.

These ideas not only provide elegance to your nails but also strengthen, repair and lengthen the nails. The whole process is not time consuming and does not require professional help. This piece of art remains intact for up to 4 – 6 weeks.

So gear up and put your creativity to work on the canvas of your nails?

Step By Step Process
1. Outline the shape of your nails on a paper leaving the outer edge longer than the actual size.
2. Now place these shapes on the fabric you have chosen and cut them out.
3. Wash your hands and pad them dry.
4. Apply a cost of adhesive agent to the nails or if the adhesive is not available then a thick coat of a transparent nail polish will also work.
5. Now place the cut out fabric pieces on the nails polished with the adhesive before it dries up.
6. Smoothen out the creases and press lightly and let it dry.
7. When it dries completely with the help of a scissors cut the extra fabric and give shape to the nails.
8. Finally apply a coat of the transparent nail polish and we are done.

How To Select The Fabric
1. Silk:
It is very popular and stylish. It is very fine and has a strong weave. It gives the finish of a French polish.

2. Linen: It is much thicker than silk. It stays opaque even after the adhesive is applied. Remember to apply a layer of nail polish colored or transparent on it.

3. Organza:
It is stiff yet light so it is easy to cut and shape. It stays on for days without needing to be touched up.

Georgette, chiffon or cotton or any fabric can be used. Only thing to be kept in mind is that it should not limp or hang lose.

Choosing The Color And Design
Gone are the days of baby pinks and conservative colors. Today gold, red, green and blue are in. Cyber colors and textures are taking over. The secret here is to match colors and designs with your outfit. If you are wearing club wear type, splash out with floral textures. You can also try gold, green for an earthly feel. Do not forget the tribal and animal prints.

Nail Weekly Maintenance

Basic self-manicuring should be done once a week and only takes 15-20 minutes. It is also commonly recommended (although I don’t do it myself) to visit a professional manicurist every 4-6 weeks   Remove old nail polish. Moisten a cottonball with nail polish remover and press over the nail for a few seconds to soften the polish. Firmly bring the cotton from the base of the nail to the tip. Repeat until all the polish is gone.

  •  Shape the nail. Using an emery board, file each nail tip from corner to center. Do not file back and forth or in a “see-saw” motion over the nail since that can cause ridges and splitting.
  •       Clean the fingers/nails. Soak the hands in warm soapy water for a few minutes to loosen dirt. Use an orange wood stick to clean under the free edge of each nail. You may want to use a toothbrush to gently scrub away stubborn dirt especially under the nails. (Tip: Don’t use the same toothbrush you use for your teeth… that’s just really disgusting… sometimes I wonder about you!)
  •     Push back the cuticle. The cuticle is the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail. Some professionals actually suggest that the cuticle be left in tact to help prevent infections. If you decide to work on them, do not cut the cuticles or push them back excessively.
  •     Apply clear nail polish. There is no need to by items designed as a “base coat” or “top coat.” Clear polish or a clear nail hardener does the trick. Let the polish completely dry before continuing.
  •     Apply color nail polish if desired. Make sure the polish is dry before applying another coat (if needed). You may want to apply a top coat of clear polish to prevent chipping of the colored polish.
  •     Moisturize the hands and cuticles. Apply a moisturizing cream or lotion to help prevent nail splitting and keep them flexible. Polish and hardeners can actually make the nail more try and susceptible to chips so don’t assume you need hardener. I use a clear base coat more since it helps keep colored polish from staining my nails which sometimes happens

Tips to Keep Your Nails Strong and sexy

When you write down your shopping list, as you punch a phone number into your cell, while you wash dishes, do the ironing, clean the windows, or do one hundred other things that women do on any given day do you take notice of the condition of your nails?
Our hands are such an integral part of our daily lives, and constantly, we risk their health and strength, often without even noticing, because of the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day activities. Take a few moments each day, or at least a few times a week, to monitor the condition of your nails the color, the texture, the appearance of ridges or white marks.
Make a greater effort to take good care of your nails, and you will be thrilled with the way they complement your wardrobe and your own personal style. Consider the following tips as a way to enhance the health and quality of your nails.

Great, Healthy Nails

Apply speed-dry nail polish when time is of the essence. Drink lots of water. Keep your body hydrated everyday to maintain healthy nails. Fortify your diet with FDA approved vitamins or supplements. Your fingernails count on you to be responsible with your health and your diet. Unless instructed otherwise by your physician, increase your daily doses of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, protein, Vitamin B12, and zinc. Touch up your manicure on a daily basis to prevent chips and cracks. Your nails depend on you to maintain a healthy diet. Take in lots.

Nail polish tips:

Finish with a clear topcoat to add gloss and sheen. Start with a base coat to strengthen and protect the nails. Store nail polish in the refrigerator to maintain a smooth consistency. Try not to store nail polish in a room that becomes cold. The nail polish bottles may break without warning, leaving you with a big mess.

To avoid breaking nails or brittle nails:

Avoid using your nails as tools. This means no picking, scratching, digging, pinching, etc. You know who you are! Increase the amount of calcium in your diet. Use products containing alcohol, especially perfumed lotions, sparingly. These items can make nails prone to breaking.
Wear rubber gloves when you do chores that involve continual submersion in water or contact with harsh detergents or chemicals.

Natural Nail Care Tips

Nail plays a very important part in the attractiveness of a personality. There have been numerous reviews and surveys that have proved bad nails are a major turn off. Nails protect the skin of the hands. They are a basically dead cell that’s why you don’t feel a thing when you cut them they are made of protein.
Nail growth is similar in all human beings and the average growth rate a day is 0.1 mm. though it can vary with hormonal changes like during pregnancy. The rate of growth slows down with age. The Fingernails grow two times faster than the toenails.
If a nail is completely removed from the nail bed, it usually takes around six months for them to grow back while toenails can take about eighteen months to grow right back.
Though the nails could be indicators of certain diet imbalances they cannot be sole indicators for the imbalances. There are certain myths regarding nails like the spots on the nails indicate that the person has low calcium level which is incorrect.
The related links are designed for people who want to know about nail, the dos and don’ts of nail care, how to get rid of problems like nail fungus, nail biting and how to keep long nails. We endorse the idea that nail play an important part in ones overall appearance and hence have designed these pages for the purpose so everyone has problem free beautiful nails.

How-to Apply Fake Nails at Home

There are so many types of artificial nail kits to chose from, but if you are new to applying fake nails don't try to use acrylic or gel home kits. Instead start with the easiest ones and when you have tackled the basics then you can progress.
Kiss Broadway Nails are great for beginners because they have different styles, shapes and even pre- colored tips. They will last around 7-10 days and are ideal for a special occasion!
What You'll Need:
  • Acetone-free nail polish
  • Cotton pads
  • Q-Tips
  • Orange stick
  • Pack of nails (*pack should include buffer and glue)
  • Nail buffer*
  • Glue* (Use nail glue only)
  • Scissors (In case you need to cut back the top of the glue)
NOTE: Don't apply fake nails immediately after a manicure - wait at least 24 hours, as oils in the skin will cause your fake nails to lift off.
Procedure
  1. Wash your hands and pay particular attention to drying nails and cuticles.
  2. Clean off any nail polish and give your nails a wipe over with the acetone-free polish remover to ensure there are no oils, natural or otherwise on the surface of your nail.
  3. Remove the fake nails from the pack and arrange which nail is going to be suitable for which finger – easier than doing it as you go along.
  4. Clip your natural nail down close to the finger tip.
  5. Buff the surface of the natural nail to roughen it, this makes the fake nails adhere better.
  6. Very gently push your cuticles back using the orange stick.
  7. Apply the nails to your dominant hand first, e.g. if you are left-handed apply to left hand first.
  8. Put a dot of glue on to the fake nail and one on the real nail – try to avoid over-gluing.
  9. Place the fake nail just above cuticle (keep it straight) and then press down onto nail bed. Keep pressure applied for 10 seconds to ensure no air bubbles are present before you go on to the next one.  This step is really important because if the fake nail is not secure to the nail bed, moisture will get in underneath and cause lifting or nail fungus.
  10. Take a Q-Tip and wipe around the cuticle to take up any glue that has seeped out from under the fake nail.
Finally
Fake nails can't really be reused if you mess up.  The glue that you have put on the underside will harden and prevent a smooth adhesion.
Keep the top of the nail glue as clean as you can (remember if you wipe it with soft tissue the tissue will stick) and keep the bottle upright so you can reuse.
