Fight Dry Skin When Temperature Drops
It’s getting colder and when the temperature drops, and we do what we can to stay warm, many of us deal with dry skin issues.I hate being cold so I am always cranking the heat in the car, taking super hot showers, and staying close to a heater. I enjoy the warmth but my skin is paying for it.
So what can you do to stay warm and keep skin moisturized?
You need to stay hydrated and make sure you drink 6-8 glasses of water each day. This is a good tip year round but especially important during cold weather months.
If you are taking very hot showers like I am, you need to lather your body in lotion AS SOON as you get out of the shower so you aren’t losing your natural body’s moisture.
You should use a combination sunscreen and moisturizer to your face each day to protect your skin from sun damage and drying.
My hands are always the driest part of my body in the winter. You can prevent dry, cracked hands by applying a thick hand cream four to five times a day and keep a travel size with you at all times for spot treatments if you feel your skin getting dry.
Make sure to switch up your facial cleansers in the winter. You might need that extra exfoiliator in your facial scrub during sticky summer months but you might be stripping your skin of moisture in the winter. Try to use more gentle cleansers during cold months.
